Making Gummies with Pectin - A Detailed Look at the Ingredients
Now that you are about to venture into making gummies with pectin, you must be wondering; what do these candies really contain? Well, here's a quick breakdown.
1. Strawberries
One of the healthiest things about this particular gummy recipe with pectin and gelatin is that it recommends the use of real fruit rather than conventional flavoring concentrates or fruit extracts. Nothing, for instance, packs more nutritional benefits than perfectly-ripe strawberries. This includes the likes of;
- High levels of antioxidants i.e polyphenols that are capable of neutralizing oxidative damage due to free radicals
- Increased good aka HDL cholesterol
- Packed with a decent amount of vitamins complemented by fiber
- Strawberries are cholesterol free, sodium-free, and fat-free, hence the perfect snack!
What's more, unlike flavoring concentrates used in other gummy recipes, using real fruit guarantees you a dose of potassium and manganese in each serving of the candy that you indulge in.
2. Honey
Instead of the usual sugar or corn syrup, this recipe employs honey to impart that natural sweetness to your candies. Honey, as you may already know, is an incredible source of antioxidants apart from being a phytonutrient powerhouse.
3. Pectin
You must wonder what the point of including pectin in this recipe is. Well, there's a suite of comprehensive studies that show that intake of pectin can improve blood fat levels and encourage the maintenance of a healthy weight. That is, besides improving digestion and helping with gastrointestinal problems.
4. Gelatin
As you may have already guessed, the presence of gelatin here is to give your final strawberry gummies that characteristic rubbery, chewy and bouncy texture that we are used to.
5. Wellabs Vitamin B12
Your pectin strawberry gummies are incomplete if not fortified with a reliable source of an essential vitamin such as B12. Here's where Wellabs Vitamin B12 comes into play. Besides aiding in the formation of healthy blood cells, calamine is also known to be a mood booster and a dependable way to nourish your brain and nervous system.
